I'm looking forward to see next beta version.
Present version is still crashing when using images installed under Personal Alpha, even if last release notes are mentioning support for IdleLoop, which was causing crash in previous versions.
It looks very promising, with the support for more systems running in the same time and 2 possible network cards FastFD, ideal for experimenting with clusters.

Although the file name of this page seems to be biased for a specific set of emulators, the wording on that page tries to be more 'generic'. It even mentions SIMH/VAX.

Bruce should certainly try to include a reference to Avanti, once this becomes an established product.

I tried Alphastation 255 openvms 7.1 H2 version image on personel alpha but it failed due to license issues .

Next i tried the same with freeaxp . There was improvement and no license violation messages appear but still Decnet-plus is not operating and TP server process did not start due to either Decnet -plus has not started or SYS$NODE_FULLNAME is not defined ??

Note that this image is from a working system so there should not be any constraint other than hardware emulation mismatch ?

Please advise how i can change the NODE NAME and get the TP services running

Whatever is in the attachment, please use a file-format VMS users can display.

The missing sys$node* logical is a consequence of DECnet not starting.
If the system disk is a copy of an existing system, then probably the network devices configured are not the same.
A "@NET$CONFIGURE ADVANCED" should establish the correct network device environment.
Also -if the emulated VMS is part of an existing network- change node name and address, as well as the VMS nodename and scssystemid (see sys$system:modparams.dat, change, and use autogen to set the new parameter for reboot).

TCPIP (TP ?) has to be setup by @tcpip$config.

SYS$NODE_FULLNAME is being defined by NET$STARTUP.COM. In your system either DECnet is not configured or DECnet is not started. Start the DECnet and verify whether logical SYS$NODE_FULLNAME is present. If not, do the DECnet configuration to resolve the issue.

Have a look at following guide to know how to configure DECnet:

Also Add DECnet startup in your startup procedure, so whenever system starts DECnet gets started automatically.

As this system is running DECnet-OSI, there is NO NEED to add DECnet startup to the startup procedure, as OpenVMS itself will automatically start DECnet.
