The latest version of the HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003 Version 5.39.0.0 has an interesting enhancement. It states
"Added support for HP ProLiant WMI providers."

Does anyone know how I can access the ILO using a WMI provider. We currently use WMI to get our server information into our helpdesk system, it would be great to collect the ILO information using WMI as well.

Regs
Chris

Chris, the update you refer to is the iLO driver in the host operating system and supports populating iLO information into the future HP WMI providers in Windows. iLO's processor is not running Windows and there is no way to run WMI on it directly.

If I understand you correctly this will in future enable the ILO itself to populate WMI providers within Windows. Not the other away around i.e. use WMI to talk to the ILO.

I guess this will mean a firmware update to the ILO at that point. But this should mean I can query the WMI ILO providers in windows to get the information.
