Hi Onder,

The resolution for this issue is very simple, upgrade the firmware for the BMC and it will automatically reset the admin password to the default.(i.e "username:admin , password:admin")

Download the firmware from the following link:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/25537.html

This is a softpack. Download the file and run the file. It will create a bootable diskette with the firmware. Boot the server with that floopy and it will update the firmware for the BMC controller. The Process might take around 10-15 mins.

I should have performed more research before suggesting that the systemboard replacement is the only option. But now we have the resolution.

Regards,
Raj.

Hi all,

I changed ILO username&password of a DL140 G2 Server.(Default password were admin ,password were admin) I could not connect ILO of this server any more, after i changed the ILO username&password.

How can i reset DL140 G2's ILO username&password easily? Especially Dl140, there is not any resetting problem for other DL Series Servers' ILO?

Daniel,

Firstly, many thanks for your relpy. I found the same solution at the internet before , but i received the error message like this "there is no sm2users.dll file" after running hponcfg.exe command. This machine is DL140 G2 Server that is very simple server according to the other DL series Server and actually it has no an advanced ILO port, it has just a BMC port. So, we can not do many things on it.

Hi Onder,

If the admin password is lost then the only option is to replace the systemboard.

We donot have any option to reset to factory defaults.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00369076/c00369076.pdf

Regards,
Raj.

Hi Onder,

Not sure whether this resolve the issue but you can try to do a Lights-Out 100i Remote Management firmware update which would reset the BMC.
It is available here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/25536.html

Also you could try to update the system ROM:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24573.html

Hope this works!!!!

Regards,
rmn

Lights-Out 100 is used in ProLiant 1xx series of servers and it's firmware and hardware are different from iLO or iLO2

Try the following to recover your Lights-Out 100 user credentials (password only):

1) Create a DOS bootable disk (floppy or USB key)
2) Download the IPMItool from this link: http://www.intel.com/design/servers/ipmi/ipmi_tool.htm
3) Copy the IPMItool.exe to the bootable disk
4) Boot the server using the bootable disk
5) Run "ipmitool.exe 20 18 47 03 02 61 64 6d 69 6e 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00"
6) Now your password should reset back to "admin"

Note: This tool doesn't reset your default username. You need to use/remember the new username that you changed it to.
