First of all, I have successfully done 24 servers using the same method but I've encountered the same error with 6 of the servers.

We have Proliant G3\G4's and all of them have a faily similar configuration as well as software revisions.

I have used hponcfg to update the ILO on these servers quite successfully. I have used Administrator_reset_pw.xml to modify the admin account. Below is the contents of this xml file.

<RIBCL version="2.0">
<LOGIN user_login="adminname" password="password">
<USER_INFO mode="write">
<MOD_USER user_login="Administrator">
<PASSWORD value="password"></PASSWORD>
</MOD_USER>
</USER_INFO>
</LOGIN>
</RIBCL>

With the 6 servers I've mentioned I've been encountering this error.

C:\Program Files\HP\hponcfg>hponcfg /f Administrator_reset_pw.xml
Firmware Revision = 1.41 Device type = iLO Driver name = CpqCiDrv
Status = 0x1
Message = Syntax error: Line #0: syntax error near "<" in the line: "<LOCFG vers=""></LOCFG>ION="2.24">"
Script failed

All our server's ILO are on rev 1.41. Why would it fail on these servers and be successful on others?

I've tried to reset the ILO. I've tried to modify the ip address but each time I use the /f, this error comes up.

I appreciate any suggestions and help you can offer. Thanks in advance.
Carl

hi

even though some servers were successfully

my recommendation try to update them to latest FW for ilo 1.92 and ilo2 1.50 firmware

and test again your script

Thanks for the reply. How do I upgrade the firmware if I couldn't get into it? These servers are at remote sites.
