I need to recover lost iLO default passwords for 200+ linux boxes (HP DL360
G3's and mainly HP DL380 G3's). I was told to use cpqlodos.exe on the
scripting toolkit. After dumping the xml file to the floppy
(/write_xml=filename) and editing the password section and trying to load it
(/load_xml=filename) I get the same syntax error no matter what I do :

"Syntax error: Line #1: syntax error near "MOD_NETWORK_SETTINGS"
in the line: ""

Attached is "argh.xml" which is the default file that was dumped using /write_xml=filename. It doesn't look like a correctly parsed xml file, but I could be wrong.
CPQLODOS requires you to reboot to DOS. If you want to reset the passwords on-line, use the new HPONCFG utility at http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/lights-out/us/download/20911.html

You may have to upload your file again--but this time use a .txt extension. IE is having problems getting to a non-browser XML.

I am rebooting in dos. How else could I dump the config? :)

Attached is by default what I dumped. If I do a /verify_xml=filename it says :

Syntax error: Line #1: syntax error near "MOD_NETWORK_SETTINGS"
in the line: ""

HPONCFG is going to give you the same functinoality but from your booted Linux host. No downtime.

The biggest thing I see in your file is that you have the terminator at the end but you don't have an opening <CPQLODOS> in the first line.</CPQLODOS>

I've tried editing that a bunch of times still with the same (yet different) results :

Syntax error: Line #1: syntax error near ">"
in the line: ""

I'll try the new utility and see if it works any better.

Well, it looks like it works, installing the redhat 8 rpm, but unless there is a way to upgrade the iLO firmware to the latest version without having to login, I'm screwed. Heh.

On-line ROM Flash Component for Linux - flash the firmware from your Linux command line. Does NOT require a log-in.

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20723.html
