iLO Firmware Update 1.15 to 1.16

Hi!

When I do a Firmware-Update of the ILO3(BL460c G7), do i have to restart the blade or can i keep it running(productive system).

An iLO update restarts the iLO only.

ok... that's what i thought, too.... but the hp chat said, that i have to restart the blade after the update... so, what are you're experiences on that?

You can update offline using the firmware DVD or online directly from the OS or with the extracted *.bin file from the iLO web page. In each case the iLO restarts, the blade can continue.

Never done, but I think so.

At least some hardware also supports update via Smart update manager.

My favorite way to do updates to iLO in C7000 chassis is via the command line interface to the onboard admin module. With one command you can update every iLO in the chassis. Use the very popular search engine for "ilo mass update"

How can i update the ILO without accessing the OS of the blade??? I read something about the CLI and adding the *bin file... But i can't find the bin file anywhere...

the bin file is inside the cp01xxxx.exe file you need to extract it

as for the update search for "update ilo ALL" in the OA command line interface manual. It will do an entire enclosure of ilo in 10 minutes. I just did 10 new blades before they were even powered up
