Hi,
I have the following weird problem. My server's iLO card can't communicate on the network. There is no link on the adapter. I tried autosense, fixed speed settings, nothing helped. The cable is working with the other servers. I flashed the System Board & the iLO to the latest version.

I can connect to the iLO locally from the OS with hponcfg and the log contains no other errors just "iLO network link down."

Any pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Looking at the quickspecs for the DL380 G4, it shows that iLO can share a network connection with an onboard NIC. I'd suggest checking in RBSU to make sure iLO is not in shared port mode.

No it isn't. We tried to connect the port to a notebook via cross-over cable and it is working now. It can be some problem with the Cisco network. But the same cable works with a G5 server. Very strange...

<GET_NETWORK_SETTINGS>

<ENABLE_NIC value="Y"></ENABLE_NIC>
<SHARED_NETWORK_PORT value="N"></SHARED_NETWORK_PORT>
<SHARED_NETWORK_PORT_VLAN value="N"></SHARED_NETWORK_PORT_VLAN>
<SHARED_NETWORK_PORT_VLAN_ID value="0"></SHARED_NETWORK_PORT_VLAN_ID>
<SPEED_AUTOSELECT value="Y"></SPEED_AUTOSELECT>
<NIC_SPEED value="10"></NIC_SPEED>
<FULL_DUPLEX value="N"></FULL_DUPLEX>
<DHCP_ENABLE value="N"></DHCP_ENABLE>
<DHCP_GATEWAY value="Y"></DHCP_GATEWAY>
<DHCP_DNS_SERVER value="Y"></DHCP_DNS_SERVER>
<DHCP_WINS_SERVER value="Y"></DHCP_WINS_SERVER>
<DHCP_STATIC_ROUTE value="Y"></DHCP_STATIC_ROUTE>
<DHCP_DOMAIN_NAME value="Y"></DHCP_DOMAIN_NAME>
<REG_WINS_SERVER value="Y"></REG_WINS_SERVER>
<REG_DDNS_SERVER value="Y"></REG_DDNS_SERVER>
<PING_GATEWAY value="N"></PING_GATEWAY>
<MAC_ADDRESS value="00:15:60:57:13:86"></MAC_ADDRESS>
<IP_ADDRESS value="192.22.4.72"></IP_ADDRESS>
<SUBNET_MASK value="255.255.254.0"></SUBNET_MASK>
<GATEWAY_IP_ADDRESS value="192.22.5.254"></GATEWAY_IP_ADDRESS>
<DNS_NAME value="INFRA01-ILO"></DNS_NAME>
<DOMAIN_NAME value=""></DOMAIN_NAME>
<PRIM_DNS_SERVER value="0.0.0.0"></PRIM_DNS_SERVER>
<SEC_DNS_SERVER value="0.0.0.0"></SEC_DNS_SERVER>
<TER_DNS_SERVER value="0.0.0.0"></TER_DNS_SERVER>
<PRIM_WINS_SERVER value="0.0.0.0"></PRIM_WINS_SERVER>
<SEC_WINS_SERVER value="0.0.0.0"></SEC_WINS_SERVER>
<STATIC_ROUTE_1 dest="0.0.0.0"></STATIC_ROUTE_1> GATEWAY="0.0.0.0"/>
<STATIC_ROUTE_2 dest="0.0.0.0"></STATIC_ROUTE_2> GATEWAY="0.0.0.0"/>
<STATIC_ROUTE_3 dest="0.0.0.0"></STATIC_ROUTE_3> GATEWAY="0.0.0.0"/>
</GET_NETWORK_SETTINGS>

Check the port your using on your Cisco and make sure it's set to auto and not locked at 1Gb. The iLO NIC is a 10/100Mb device.

As I wrote before the same port works with a G5 server's iLO. I think it has the same limitation.
