You didn't mention if it's iLO or RILOE II, etc. However, with newer firmware version of lights-out encrypted protocols are required. Telnet is not encrypted, so by default, it is disabled. Go into the web interface of card and look under Global Settings (I think) and disable encryption.

This should do it.

Hi Phil and Jeff,

I have the same problem with Remote Console on several DL360 G3/DL380 G3 servers with RILOE II controllers installed.

When I try to launch the Remote Console window, before the "Telnet is not..." message is displayed, the screen shows several login attempts, with "Login Name:" and "Password" prompts followed by garbage characters.

I have uploaded the latest firmware into RILOE II - ver 1.10, (CP003368.exe)

And I have already disabled the "Remote Console Data Encryption" under Administration/Global Settings tab - with no result.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Andrew
