The Web interface to ILO displays the server serial number. Is it possible to get this same information using the XML interface to ILO?

You can retrieve the serial number using the get_host_data.xml example script available in the XML sample package here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/lights-out/us/locate/69_5867.html#8

In the response, you will see a "type 1" record with the serial number that appears something like this:
<SMBIOS_RECORD type="1" b64_data="...">
<FIELD name="Subject" value="System Information"></FIELD>
<FIELD name="Product Name" value="ProLiant DL380 G3"></FIELD>
<FIELD name="Serial Number" value="0230KJN20040    "></FIELD>
<FIELD name="UUID" value="0230KJN20040    "></FIELD>
</SMBIOS_RECORD>

Also, HP Systems Information Manager can retrieve this information. It is a powerful management console if you are unfamiliar.
