Hi,

I am trying to understand the purpose of iLO SNMP Pass-thru.

What are the main reasons for using it?

Will it pass SNMP Traps through to the HOST operating system, and if so would a RHEL 7 snmpd forward those traps onto an external monitoring system?

If SNMP GET commands are passed thru to the HOST and responses are returned to iLO, does that eliminate the need to perform SNMP queries on the HOST?

Regards John

SNMP Pass-thru uses SNMP agents running on the host operating system to manage the server. SNMP requests sent by the client to iLO over the network are passed to the host operating Configuring iLO management settings
system. The responses from OS are then passed to iLO and returned to the client over the network. This setting does not affect alerts.

What does it mean by alerts are not affected?

Does it require special SNMP daemons running on the host?
