Appreciate the replies.

I should have explained in the beginning, the RDP server has been running correctly for over a year - in that time we have upgraded to RDP 2.2 & moved DHCP from another server to the RDP/PXE server - but, all has been working since this re-config (DOS files being used are WIN95 OSR2)

As mentioned previously - the odd time it works fine, sometimes it needs the blade rebooting 3 4 or even 5 times and it appears to move onto the next stage correctly.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for trying to trap the following error:-

"UD 10.92.**.**
Requesting more DHCP options
Downloading DOS boot Diskete image... "

and it just sits there - reboot and everything works well on the 3rd 4th or even 5th attempt.

Uninstalled RDP 2.2 and reinstalled from scratch, get the same problem & am unsure of where to start, in trying to trap this problem.

Cheers

Hi,

Is DHCP and PXE running on the same server, then option 60 is needed.
If PXE and DHCP on different Server Option 66 is needed.
If PXE and DHCP on different server and different subnet then Option 66 and 03.

Option 60 is automatically installed on your DHCP server after installing PXE server from RDP cd.
So my advise is to install DHCP or make sure it is running before installng PXE server.

The newest version of RDP [2.2] will check to see if DHCP is running on the same server as the PXE service if so it should auto add option 60 to the DHCP server.

This is the only option in regards to RDP and the DHCP server you need to worry about.

If the target computer is on a different network than the RDP/PXE server you will need a helper address setup on your router which points to the PXE server.

Nick,

I had a similar problem with what I think "incompatible" DOS Boot Disks. I used MS-Dos 6.22 first and had hangs, too. After switching to Win98 and creating a new boot disk, the problem was solved.

Hi Nick

I expect that there are two or more DHCP servers in the Network of your system.
If that is right, a problem may solve you by specifying an IP address instead of DHCP by a boot disk.

Regards, kita
