I can understand that they'd be concerned about letting the International Society of Explosives Engineers onto the network. Or is that the Interactive Sound Editing Environment from Queen's University? ;)

If you'll elaborate a bit on your scenario, you'll probably get some useful responses.

I would like everyone to give me their opinion on isee. Management at my site is concerned about opening up port 80 to be able to use isee.

Any thoughts on isee?

Do you have a proxy server? If so you can use that. We are using our proxy with isee and thus do not need a open port to the Internet.

- Justin

see http://www.hp.com/hps/tech/resources/elect/isee.htm
1)ISEE comes in 2 versions,1-st SEC is for small enterprises, only provides information to
HP remote support.Second,Data Centers version -
allows also secure remote access.I assume you
are meaning the first version.
no need to open firewall port 80 if you use
HTTP proxy.Basically ISEE sends out (via sort of encrypted + hashed tunnel) EMS events in form of (XML?) reports.
2)It contains Hardware Diagnostic scripts called MAPs that run (if needed) on your server
- all they do is to obtain information like
standard hp-ux commands do.You control if HP
support is allowed to run these scripts.
3)if you have support agreement with HP it can
open for you calls at local HP support center -
in case and there is a real problem.

Let me know if you're interested in more details.Mail to zeev_schultz@hp.com
