Sorry for my igornance...

I have 7 HP Proliant DL380 G5 servers and 1 DL380 G6 server. They are running RHEL 4 and RHEL 5.

What I am looking for is a way to monitor all the systems and alert me if any hard drives, power supplies or CPU's fail or have problems. I am sure there is an HP solution (SIM?) but I don't know what I need. Can someone tell me what I need to have these servers hardware monitored and email me if one of the server has a problem?

Thanks in advance!

-Mike

Mike,

You can either use Insight Remote Support Standard ("SIM-less" Remote Support") or Insight Remote Support Advanced (HPSIM) depending on the your level of support. If you have any servers that are under Critical Support you would be wise to choose HPSIM as it gives you the most functionality. Also you will need the Proliant Support Packs installed on all of your servers to have them monitored correctly.

The links you need are :

PSP RHEL4 - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3288134&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121516&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2025#78221

PSP RHEL5 - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3288134&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121516&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4006#78221

Insight Remote Support Standard - https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=RSSTANDARD

HPSIM - www.hp.com/go/hpsim

Good luck!
Many thanks! I am deploying these servers to a datacenter about 2 hours away and having a system in place to notify me of any hardware problems is essential.

Thanks again,

-Mike
