Thanks Michael, thats pretty much answered my question. Can you tell me how ICE fits into the picture? Is it another application that sits on top of SIM on the CMS server?

I'm new to SIM/ICE and am currently creating a design for a project I'm working on. The client requires HP SIM/ICE for monitoring alerting etc. As I have no experience in this I need to knwo 2 things. 1. How does the licensing work. 2. Can the CMS server run on a VM. I believe its not supported by HP, but will it work at all? Issues with this?

Thanks in advance

With regard to HPSIM, it can run, in concert with IRSA 5.40 on a VM. It is important to know that the hardware prerequistes are 10% higher on a VM versus a physical server. I have attached a document. Pay close attention to pages 23-26 and that should help you set up your VM CMS. Good luck!
