I monitor our SAN switch via the IRS. So far always with snmpv1, which has always worked perfectly.
Now I have made a firmware update of the SAN Switch from v9.0.1d to v9.1.1c.
Since then I have a connection error in the IRS of every SAN switch:

When I look at the monitoring status description of the switch, I have a status SUCCESS via snmpv1:

but a FAILURE over V2C?:

The SAN switch can only do snmpv1 or snmpv3.
I have also disabled snmpv1 on the SAN Switch and enabled and configured snmpv3, then I get this entries:

Protocol is snmpv3, but Description and Detailed is snmpv1?
And the Failure:

SNMP traps arrive from the SAN switch in the IRS and cases are also opened.
Does anyone have the same problem ? How can I correct the errors?

Hi,

I am not sure which SAN Switch model you have, but here are some things to try.

Have you configured the IP address of the host that will receive the traps and the SNMP community string of the host that will receive the traps?
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=c02716103

Thank You!
I work with HPE but opinions expressed here are mine.
HPE Tech Tips videos on How To and Troubleshooting topics

Hello

Thank you for the information.
We have Brocade SAN Switch G620 and G720 from HPE in use.
I have configured everything according to HPE Insight Remote Support - Monitored Devices Configuration Guide.
This also worked up to FOS version v9.1.1c. After updating to the FOS v9.1.1.c I had the errors in the IRS. snmp traps arrive in the IRS, this all works. Only I have just the errors according to Printscreen above. I have tried this with snmpv1 and snmpv3, I always get the failure unter Monitoring Status Description.

Hi All,

Sorry you're having this problem. This is a known issue with FOS 9 - there is a new I-RS update coming out soon that will add support for FOS 9 based switches. I don't have an exact date - but I think hopefully late October.

Hello

nice to hear this, then I don't have to keep looking on my site....
However, this is not a FOS 9 problem, because with FOS v9.0.1d everything still worked.
It seems that in the last FOS versions something has changed regarding snmp.
