There are some workaround to install the SPOP as smtp server. This should however only been done to get the SPOP installed in a DMZ e.g. It's not straightforward.

You should remove the SMTP server afterwards!

Can you explain the reason why you are installing the smtp server on the SPOP?

Hi,

Which one is 134.192.4.68? Is it your SMTP Server or this is the IP Address of your SPOP?

Try "telnet 134.192.4.68 25", do you get a welcome message?

The error you were getting is a "generic error", but the bottom line is the SPOP cannot send a Test Email to the recipient.

Hope this helps,
Rambo,

I found from the other thread that 134.192.4.48 is your SPOP.

To turn on the SMTP server on the SPOP, complete the following steps before running the SPOP Initialization Utility
1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
2. Double click Add/Remove Programs
3. Select Add Windows Components
4. Click Internet Information Services (IIS) and click details
5. Check the box for the SMTP Service
6. Click OK, click Next
7. Leave the default of Application server mode selected, click next
8. When prompted for the SP3 CD, select Browse, and go to C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386
9. Click finish
Note that when defining your SMTP server in the initialization, you will have to authenticate with the administrator username and password. After the init finishes, delete the logs from
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\ISEE\SPOP\IseeCore\log
as there is an outstanding issue about the passwords being logged.

That should let you continue with the Init.

Regards,
When you try: https://isee.asiapac.hp.com/soapfe/soap, do you get the page right away or do you get some kind of authentication pop-up?

Please upload: spopconfig.log, MotservConfig.txt, server.log and spop.ans.

Regards,

Hi,Liem Nguyen
I had re-imaged the SPOP.
The ESC can login ,and the EMS test event which ran from HP-UX also can be see in the
SPOP with "open incidents" status, but the problem was SPOP didn't send these open incidents to backend server to close them. It's seem a communication problem bwteen SPOP and backend server.
I installated the patch named "A0391Patch" for SPOP_Communication_Timeout issue.
The installation DOS windows displayed "successfully complete ,press any key to continue..." ,it seems OK ,but also
I saw the error messages as these
"Poll failed :there was a error reported by the server :Received HTTP response status code 404(Not Found)"
"Incident Fetched failed: There was e error reported by server:counld not connect to server"
I checked the C:\Program Files\Motive\Server\motserv.log ,the log as below:
=========== Start motserv Logging =========================
2006/03/02 16:43:55.796 [2984] INFO    Motive Server is starting ...
2006/03/02 16:44:41.968 [2984] INFO Motive Server is now running
2006/03/02 16:56:13.515 [1216] INFO Motive Server is shutting down ...
2006/03/02 16:56:23.906 [2984] INFO Motive Server has been stopped
================== Start motserv Logging =========================
2006/03/02 16:56:30.187 [2740] INFO    Motive Server is starting ...
2006/03/02 16:57:08.312 [2740] INFO Motive Server is now running
2006/03/02 17:24:02.671 [1404] INFO Motive Server is shutting down ...
2006/03/02 17:25:02.671 [1404] WARNING java shutdown timed out
2006/03/02 17:25:02.671 [2740] INFO Motive Server has been stopped
================== Start motserv Logging =========================
2006/03/02 17:25:05.703 [1336] INFO    Motive Server is starting ...

the motserv just in starting status , and running message is not entered.
I found I can't open the ESC console again.
I Moved the fowllowing files from C:\temp\ A0391Patchback to C:\ProgramFiles\Motive\Server\tomcat\lib,
overwriting the following existing files:
a. b2bAdapater.jar
b. b2bClient.jar
c. sslHTTPClient.jar
Edit the  registry key in
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Hewlett-Packard/ISEE/SPOP/UpgradePatchVersion",
removing the text â  ,391â  :
But still can't open the ESC console.

B.R
Rambo

Rambo,

Seems to me you are back to square 1 again. When you reboot the SPOP, the first thing Motive Server does is making a connection to HP Backend and this CANNOT be done, that's why you are seeing status of STARTING instead of RUNNING.

I think you have Proxy problem, take a look at server.log, look for https://isee.xxxxxx.hp.com/xxxxx, you would see the error there, then you can cut and paste the whole URL to your Browser to see if you can get there.

Regards,
