Just saw there's a SIM fix in ESX 2.5 Patch 2 released 10 days ago. Doesn't address this issue specifically, but I bet it's related. When we upgrade I'll post the result (if someone hasn't sooner).

http://www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1575

VMM License Wizard

I've had to manually deploy the Windows Agents to the Virtual Servers. I rplicated what the Bat file does.
I've run Discovery and the Virtual Servers now have the "i" icon in the VM column.
The documentation suggests there are 5 x 30 day licenses available.
Where?
The docs say go to Deploy > Virtual Machine License Pack >License Wizard.
There's no such beast on my Server.
I've re-Identified the Virtual Servers and the CMS. There's no Link to any VMM pages from the CMS, although there is a VMM Web application running.

Anyone else using the VMM module?
Have you got it working?
How did you license it?
If I run up the VMM Home page from the Tools > Integrated Consoles option the VMM Page lists my 4 Virtual Servers. But again, there's no jump off point to license them.

Any help appreciated.

I've a feeling this may be ties to the fact we're using ESX 2.5. The VM Host Server is being identified as a Linux Server. My guess is that it should be identified as a Virtual Host machine. The Virtual instances are being correctly identified.
I have installed both Insight Manager and VMM Agents on the VMWare Server.

VMM removed and then reinstalled from the 7.20A Management CD. No change, there is still no License Wizard available from the Deploy Tab as per the documentation. There are only the Install Linux and Windows Host options.

On reinstalling VMM, I've rerun the Identification task for the Virtual and VM Host servers but they're still not showing up in the VMM console, which they were before.

Any clues?
Is this related to having ESX 2.5?
Just in case anyone is watching this thread and is using ESX 2.5, it seems they are related.

I had to manually set the System Subtype to Virtual Machine Host.
Once done, and the server highlighted the License Wizard option became available. From there I successfully licensed the Server and all is visible.

No Problem,
Thought it might save someone some grief.
I was hoping the latest release of the HP VMWare Agents (7.20) would resolve this, but they don't seem to have.

I had the same issue when I was trying to license our VM's, What I ended up doing was downloading just that module from HP and installing it locally to my CMS (it supposed to be built in I thought) and restarted my CMS. That did the trick.
