HPSIM use DNS by default.
It needs both forward and reverse lookups to be correct and to match.
To test you can use nslookup from the CMS Server.
Do nslookup x.x.x.x and check the name.
The do nslookup name-returned-above. That should return the original IP Address.
If it doesn't then DNS is not correctly configured and HPSIM will just use the IP Address in displays.

I did a auto discovery on an ip address. It's able to detect the agents from this server, but the system name shows the ip address.
The server has a computer name.
Why is the system name showing the IP address instead of the actual server name? How can I resolve that?
Pls help. Tks.

I would appreciate this information also. I have checked the hosts files and they are correct, but somewhere it is pulling an old temp server name.
