You need to make sure that your mail server allows relays from the IM server. If not you need to open it up.

I am having a tough time creating general automatic event handlers in SIM for all my servers. What I'd like to do have one automatic event handler when a server goes into a minor state to notify me via email, then another for major and the last one for critical (we have different repsonse types for different servers). SIM will email the relevant people if it can't contact the server via ping, but I'd like to know when the teamed nics fail and the status goes to minor. All I need is a genereic email saying status is X, for ltr reviewing in SIM.
Any help in the matter would be greatly apreciated.

Andrew

You should be able to go into events --> automatic event handling and setup multiple events per the type of machine you want to monitor. If you are sending e-mails to the same addresses then you can setup all of the events on one page. Just add the events with the or statement and you should get notified on any of the events.

I had trouble saving events at one time and had to reload SIM, but other than that it should be fairly straight forward.

Thanks for the response, but thats what I havetried. What I did was creat an automatic event handler where the status equals Critical, major and minor for system name is any to email the one address. No luck, so I split them into their own events. Still no luck...Any more help would be great.

Andrew

I have checked this, and it works for the ping status, which I receive an email for, but status change from the managemrnt agents is not emailed through to anybody.

Andrew
