Hello,

I just rebuilt my HP management server and installed the latest version of SIM. I am having a problem with deploying things through SIM to my discovered servers. I get the following error:

EXCEPTION CLASS: com.hp.mx.exceptions.MxFailedAuthenticationException
EXCEPTION: Authentication failed.

Does anyone know why this error occurs?

Thanks,
I followed the white paper to fix my problem. What happened was that our local administrator account is not called administrator.

I tried setting up ssh to use a domain ID, but I can't seem o get it working.

Thanks,

Hi there,

I'm experiencing the same type of problem, and I've tried to deploy the solution in the document "How to fix OpenSSH and SIM", ver. 0.01, but this doesn't appear to resolve the issue.

I also have a situation where the local admin account on my managed servers is renamed during OS installation to something else than "Administrator". In addition, I used a domain account that has local admin rights when installing SIM on my CMS. So this is the service account for SIM. The name of the local Administrator account and the account I used to install SIM is not the same.

I'm trying to use the "Initial ProLiant Support Pack Install" when I get the MxFailedAuthenticationException message, and I was under the impression that this task is not using OpenSSH, since there is no OpenSSH service on the target system yet (it will be installed as part of the initial PSP installation).

I have tried to replace >Administrator< with >admtroha< (which is the name of the domain account used to install SIM and thus the SIM service account) in the tools XML files and updated the database with mxtool (had to use the -x force switch to force update of the DB). But despite this the "Initial ProLiant Support Pack Install" task fail with the earlier mentioned error.

On the other hand if I try to run the "Replicate Agent Settings" tool with the same server as target, then it runs successfully.

I'm in a testing phase, so I'm trying to use several of the different tools to verify how they work and how to set the system up correctly for them to work. That's why I try several tools against the same server. Actually it already has the PSP installed, but not with the OpenSSH klient installed. So, I'm just trying out the "Initial ProLiant Support Pack Install", forcing it to install over the exsiting PSP installation. But I assume that shouldn't matter, the tool/task should still work given that the systems are configured correctly?

I hope anyone can shed some light on this matter for me.

Thanks,
