I have had the same behavior when I upgraded from 4.2 directly to sp2. My SIM runs on Windows 2003.

After the operation everything works fine but the version number remains C.04.02.00.00 so I don't know if I can apply the patch for SP2.

Have you received a solution ever since ?

Thanks,

Stef Krijnen

Why is it that everything that I touch breaks? I start to fix a problem and another two drop out of the woodwork? Anyway, enough of a moan and down to business...

I've just tried to apply SP1 to SIM 4.2 and got the following:

HP Systems Insight Manager 4.2 found.
Stopping "HP Performance Management Pack"
Stopping "HP Systems Insight Manager"
The HP Systems Insight Manager service is stopping..
The HP Systems Insight Manager service was stopped successfully.

Delaying 30 second(s)
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
1 file(s) copied.
Loading Data collection info from dcdata.dat
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
at com.hp.mx.database.DatabaseManager.initDbInfo(DatabaseManager.java:13
9)
at com.hp.mx.database.DatabaseManager.<INIT>(DatabaseManager.java:92)
at com.hp.mx.database.DatabaseManager.getDefaultDatabase(DatabaseManager
.java:81)
at com.hp.mx.core.tools.datacollection.DCCategories.initialize(DCCategor
ies.java:548)
at com.hp.mx.core.tools.datacollection.DCCategories.<CLINIT>(DCCategorie
s.java:47)
at com.hp.mx.devtool.dbinit.RegisterDataCollectionIds.loadData(RegisterD
ataCollectionIds.java:258)
at com.hp.mx.devtool.dbinit.RegisterDataCollectionIds.main(RegisterDataC
ollectionIds.java:77)
Starting "HP Systems Insight Manager"
The HP Systems Insight Manager service is starting.
The HP Systems Insight Manager service was started successfully.

Starting "HP Performance Management Pack"

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary report
-------------------------------------------------------------------
*** ERROR Replacing "HP Systems Insight Manager" ***

Press any key to continue . . .

BTW, platform is XP SP2 + latest updates.
SP1 update downloaded from ftp://ftp.compaq.com/PUB/softpaq/sp29001-29500/SP29026.exe

Well, I guess that's bad. The obvious questions are:
1) What caused it?
2) Does it matter?
3) Is SIM currently working properly (it appears to be)
4) Do I need to do anything about it, i.e. fix it?
5) If so, how?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary</CLINIT></INIT>
