I would like to know if it is possible to create new SNMP categories. Currently, the Unassigned SNMP Trap category is cluttered with many alarms for different products.

In my case, I would like to create two categories: NetWare and Windows. Is this possible?

Thanks,

You can download the pdf filde simsnmp from the HPSIM support page. In that file they mentioned how you can add the category. The problem is that you need to import the mibs and need to change the .cfg file. I was able to do it for the domino 6 because they have a trap definition. However, I am stuck on the windows becaue I am having trouble loading the wins.mib to HPSIM and microsoft di not have trap definition in their mib file.

Thanks,

By the way, I found out why I was getting these error messages. I was trying to import a task created on our former HP SIM server. The task shows hidden tasks, which I assume are still in our old HP SIM server.

I could not find a way to locate these hidden tasks. So, I created a "Template" task for me, exported it to an XML file using mxtask. Then, I edited in Notepad, and modified so that it would apply to each one of my colleagues.

The process was actually simpler that I expected. I would have preferred to import the tasks I spent so much time on (from our former HP SIM server). Still, the former one was behaving strangely, so I did not want to import the whole database.

Again, thanks for your replies.
