Hi,

I am trying to install the latest SIM v4.2 for the first time (to replace my sick IM7). As part of the install, OpenSSH v3.7.1p1-1 is installed.

When the installation of OpenSSH launches, it presents a "OpenSSH Service Logon As User" dialog box asking for an account and password.

The account I am logged in as is already filled in (but MINUS the domain). When I add the DOMAIN\, it does not accept my password. Instead, the message "The supplied password is not valid" is displayed.

I found some related threads but cannot get things to work with the domain account. The account is a local administrator and the machine is running Windows Server 2003.

Please, any help is appreciated.

-Steve

Steve greetings. I also had issues with the OpenSSH issue as well. Give me a day or two to go through my notes that I took to correct the issues that I had and I will post them back OK.

Thanks

Dan

If I remember correctly, I added the server name in that blank.

- Jim

On Windows 2000 Server the installer accepts to install under Local System but that is not allowed on Windows Server 2003.

I ended up installing OpenSSH logged in as local Administrator, nothing else worked for me.

I could however later change what user the OpenSSH service runs under from following the guidelines in "Secure Shell (SSH) in HP Systems Insight Manager".
www.hp.com/go/hpsim => Information library

I created a special domain account. I logged into the server with that account during the install process. I just specified the same account when asked for an account to use and it all went through perfectly fine with me.

I highly recommend that you are logged in with the account you intend SIM and all components of SIM to run with. The domain account will need to be a domain admin as well.

We have found this to be the only way to get everything to function correctly.
