Anyone out there tested Win2003 Server SP1 yet? If so have they seen any impacts to SIM operations, especially with regard to Performance Monitoring and ProLiant Management Agents?
Thanks!

The following appears in the event log every minute or so.

com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error loading database verification handler 'com.hp.mx.database.MsSqlVerificationHandler'
com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error accessing database

Followed by this:

Restarting MxDomainManager

I am unable to login to SIM. At this point, I'm considering doing a reinstall of SIM 4.2 SP1. Perhaps it will work after a fresh install.

One more question - what SQL are you using? The MSDE included with SIM, a separate SQL server (2000?), or another flavor of SQL? If the second or third maybe its a communication issue with the new SP1 firewall. I'll check on MS's website for SP1 effects on SQL 2000.

(We're all in this together)

James,
Are you talking about HPSIM 4.2 SP1? or Windows 2003 SP1? Patrick seemed to be asking about the latter but you mentioned reinstalling HPSIM 4.2 SP1.
We've downloaded Windows 2003 SP1, and we're trying to identify some target Servers to deploy it to.
Our HPSIM Server will not be amongst the first!
Yeah, at first I thought it was the firewall now included with Windows 2003 SP1, however the firewall is not enabled by default after doing an upgrade to SP1, only if you do a fresh install of 2003 w/SP1 slipstreamed. So alas, firewall was still disabled.

In my case, I have a seperate server running SQL 2000 which is where my SIM server connects to. This server has not yet been upgraded to SP1.

I've tried a lot of things to get it working again, i'm almost out of ideas. Event logs are pretty vague.

I gave up on the troubleshooting. I ended up doing a rebuild of the server with a slipstreamed 2003 w/SP1 CD. Then a fresh install of SIM 4.2 SP1. Everything is working fine. Maybe my upgrade to SP1 was a fluke mishap, I can't really say.

Right now, it works just fine with SP1.

Thanks for the update, James. I'm planning on doing this upgrade within the next 1-2 weeks and I actually will be starting with my SIM server (after 2 successful full backups, of course :^)

I have also Problems. The SIM doesn't recognize any more the VCA from new discovered Systems and the PMP stops with "no licensed Server reachable".

In my opinion it is connected to the new Options in the componentservices. There are new settings for localstart, remotesart, local activation and remoteactivation of the DCOM-services.
