Hi, got this on a few devices. Do I need to run a supportpaq or can I fix it without resorting to that? ITs o some ML350s and a desktop. Have checked SNMP settings.

Thanks.

Unknown would indicate that a Management Protocol has been discovered but HPSIM has not been able to get the required info.

On W2003, SNMP defaults to Allow Selected Hosts, so you need to ensure both Localhost and the HPSIM Server are in the listed of allowed Servers.
W2003 SP1 - I've not tested this yet. But I believe it blocks a number of ports by default. i.e. Non-MS ones!

This is a known issue with Windows 2003 SP1. HP Support Pack 7.2 fixes this (I had the same problem and after installing 7.2, the problem was fixed).

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=397634&prodTypeId=15351&objectID=PSD_EM041209_CW01

Looks like 7.3 got released today - you may want to go straight to that version.
