Hi,
I have installed 2 HP Proliant DL580 Server and 1 MSA1000 SAN unit. MSA1000 has two MSA1000 Controller and two MSA2/3 Hub. DL580 Servers have two FCA221X Fiber Channel adapter to connect MSA1000 ( redundant ). One of them is in Slot 5 and the other one is in Slot 3.
Servers have Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition and Cluster services are running on them.
I have installed SIM 4.2 on another server. I saw my Cluster nodes status is warning. Both of them's FC221X adapters' ,which are located in slot3, status is "loop failed". These two Fiber cables, which is connected to the two server's slot 3, go to the Redundant ( Standby ) Controller of MSA1000.
Why I get "Loop Failed" error on FC Adapter in both server's slot3 ?
Is it normal ?
How can I solve the "Loopback Failed" error mesagge?

Hello,

I notice that for the HBA in slot 5, it reports a warning with the storage system itself. Are there any warning lights on the MSA1000? Are there Link LEDs on the 2nd Hub? What does Array Configuration Utility report?

Regards,
Stephen

I realized that when I unplug Cluster Node 2's fiber cable, which is in Slot 3, Cluster Node 1's connection is OK . In addition, Cluster Node 2's FC HBA's two leds is on ( green & yellow ) even the Fiber Cable disconnected.

My FC HBA is crashed ?

Hi,

it could be. Maybe the HBA was crashing the entire loop. Once you removed it, the loop was OK. If there is no cable connected, only the green LED should blink.
I would open a support case with HP and see what they say.

Regards,
Stephen

Hi,

did you solved the problem ? I have a similar config and randomly get the 'LOOP FAILED' errors to followed by status 'OK'.
This happens on the standby HBA's.
What is the loop failed status exactly?
