If you go to a page like:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/index.html

Then click on the Sign Up for Driver Updates and Alerts etc. towards the top of the page. This takes you to a page where you can sign up to get automatically notified of things that are relevent to you.

Over the years I've signed on to a number of things and places within HP, I think this is where I get the Advisories.

Insight Diagnostics fail

We have a number of HP/Compaq servers, dl380's/580's and ml370's/530's. They have support paq 7.10a installed.

I have been slowly rolling out support paq 7.20a and with no rhyme or reason that I can find, the HP Insight Diagnostics fails with "Uninstall failed". Some servers this does not happen, some it does.

On the "failing" servers, Insight Manager 4.2 shows the HP Insight Diagnostics as out of date at current version = 6.3.0.87, new version should be 7.0.0.1198

So I downloaded the HP ID 7.0.0.1198 individual install. On some servers it tells me it is already up to date (even though SIM 4.2 says it is not and a SW inventory has been done many times). On other servers the install runs but near the end give this message:

"An option selected requires that files be installed or uninstalled from the system, or both. A read-only file c:\windows\system32\msvcr70.dll was found while performing the needed operation on your system. To perform click yes, otherwise no."

Anyone have any suggestions here?

All system ROMS/firmware (even hdd fw) is up-to-date. These are Windows 2003 servers, no service pack, but all windows security updates done.

My search about the dll tells me this:
msvcr70.dll is a module containing standard C library functions such as printf, memcpy, and cos. It is a part of the Microsoft C Runtime Library.
There's a known issue with the latest HP Diagnostics release.
There was a recent advisory issued and it's been discussed here.

See:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EA050323_CW01

Rob, great, thank you! One other question, what is the URL or the location to search the "HP advisories"? To me the HP website, though it contains a lot of information, is just plain difficult to navigate with any reason.
Thanks again.
