Mark,
I also had to intake some dell systems into my hp environment. And talked about it with hp and with dell. Dell confirms that although the events are well passed to HP SIM the status icon will remain green.
I created an extra event notification task to get an email if one of those foreign systems sens a critical alarm

I followed the pdf on Dell's website on how to properly add Dell servers to HP SIM. I successfully have added our Dell servers, however if I add a system that has a piece of faulty hardware (ie: fan failure), it is showing up as green...hardware status OK.

It shows up as failed if I look in Dell Openmanage though. I'm trying to eliminate Dell Openmanage altogether...but I need to be able to see what is in a failed state in HP SIM before I can do that.

Do I need to import more of the Dell mibs? I already imported the 2 that come with HP SIM, based on the document on how to manage the Dell Servers.

Thanks in advance!

Wow that's too bad...looks like I'm going to have to keep OpenManage around for a while.

Thanks for the quick reply.

This is an outgrowth of standard SNMP. It basically only reports back up/down.

ProLiant agents have a status array that HP SIM can check to get the minor or major status--the PowerEdge does not.

However, remember that status polling is only a backup mechanism. If your Dell sends an event trap back to HP SIM, it WILL reflect the status of that event.

Gotcha, thanks David.

I was just hoping since OpenManage reports things are Red or Yellow (failed or degraded) on the console, that HP SIM would report the same status. Oh well no biggie!
