I have installed the new 7.30 agents and system management homepage on a few servers for testing. In each case, this service is running two different processes, using about 30M of memory. Why are two processes of this service running? We ended one instance, and the homepage opened just fine.

It is my understanding that they are both needed. One is a parent process or monitor process and the other is actually the worker process that spins off all the threads that handle activities. If the worker process gets killed or goes down for some reason the main process will spin a new one back up. More than likely the process you killed was the "worker" and the parent spun a new one up and that is why the SMH was still working.

-Rich
