topic automatic event handling - Tasks in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

I have problems with the execution of automatic event handling tasks. I created a task that would notify me with an email when events meet the criteria of status 'all'. So, i should get an email for every event. This task is scheduled to run 'always'. The task ran 4 times, and after that it stopped running. Although new events appear (I can see them in the event view list), no new emails are being sent because the task refuses to run. I tried creating the task again from scratch. Again, the task ran that same day a few times and after that it stopped.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Patrick

Patrick,

This is a known issue and currently the only workaround that I know of is to set-up an automated task to stop and restart your snmp service. That is why you see the behavoir that you are seeing. If the service is restarted the emails will be sent for the next couple of hours and then will begin to back log again. Contact HP support for further information on this issue.

Regards,
Ricky

Had the same problem on Win2003 and sim4.2 sp2. Found that by creating a time filter to run 24x7 under the event handling task fixed it until a daily scheduled task ran for Daily device Identification this killed it also and logged heaps of dcom errors in eventvwr. So stopped daily device Identification task and so far so good.
