I have installed HP Insight Manager on a Windows XP machine running SP2.
When not in the domain I could run Insight Manager console up ok.
As soon as I join the machine to the domain Insight Manager will not start.
I get the message "Checking HTTP Server status" and an event in the application log as follows;

"com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error loading the database verification handler 'com.hp.mxdatabase MSSqlVerificationHandler' com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException. Error accessing database"

I took the machine out of the domain and still got the same error.

Am I right in stating that a Group Policy has screwed this up? If so, what particular policy settings should I be checking that are known to interfere with this process?

Help/Advice much appreciated.

A reply to myself!

For anyone interested I resolved this problem.

The machine was built from a Ghost Image with a computername specified.

Insight Manager was installed and the local database name was specified as the computername.

The computer was renamed and joined to the domain, hence the problem message error accessing the database as it was attempting to connect to a different name.

So how did you fix it? I'm trying to replicate our Insight Manager 7 server in a lab environment. To do that, I took a mirrored drive from the production server and used that drive to build the server in the lab (changed the name of the server).

Now its giving me http errors -- when trying to start Insight Manager. I went into the config folder and changed one of the "props" files to indicate the new host name.

I also had to change the name of the service that Insight Manager started under -- it was starting under a domain name, so I went to the service properties and changed that to the administrator account.

It didn't fix the issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

I fixed it as follows:

1. Drop the machine out of the domain.

2. Uninstall Insight Manager and all components.

3. Rename the machine from the image name to the name it will remain as on the domain.

4. Rejoin the domain

5. Install Insight Manager, set the MSDE database name as per default which should now match the hostname.

6. All should install correctly and work ok.
