Thank you for your replies.

I need to clarify one thing though. the link you gave me for the agent does not state tc2120 as a supported platform. It does state tc3000 and 4000 series. Does this mean it will work for the tc2120?

thanks in advance

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to make my setup work for one week now but without any luck. What I am trying to do is to manage an old hp server (TC2120) with hpsim. The problem is that when i try to deploy the initial proliant support pack i get the famous Authentication failure and the target swtiches back to the server of hpsim instead of the destination i am trying to manage. I have searched around in the forum and found a lot of replies stating this is a openssh issue. One thing is I know nothing about openssh. I also found a lot of procedure but i was unable to complete them successfully. Sorry I am a real beginner in what concerns SSH :) Can anyone provide a step by step procedure to see if this would resolve my problem.

Another question is this the right way to go? or should i install a specific agent for that particular server since this is not a "PROLIANT". And if this is the case can ayone point me to the agent that i should use?

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

A tc2120 is not a ProLiant so the ProLiant Support Pack is not an appropriate thing for it. The tc series was intended for small businesses--typically small ones without the resources to maintain a management console.

Assuming that you are running Windows, make sure that WBEM is enabled on the global properties page, the WMI mapper is loaded and functional, and go to the individual system's property page and give a valid set of credentials for that server.

Do the TopTools and related server agents work on a TC type server?

Back in the day when we still have a few LPr and LH servers floating around, I used the TopTools product on them which came with server agents. The CIM-7 product (and I assume SIM 4.2 does as well) was able to read the information of the TopTools agents.

Maybe try them - I think you can still download them from HP.

Nelson

No, there are not agents, TopTools or otherwise, available for the tc series. Information is collected via WMI/WBEM.

Thanks for the reply.

So it seems that only way to manage it is through WMI/WBEM If I want to use SIM. Too bad :(

Cheers.
