I do not see the link to Virtual Machine Management from the Tools>Integrated Console. Only HP Bladesystem and Webmin exist.

Neal

Afternoon All,
I was wondering whether you can help. We are running HPSIM 4.2 and there seems to be a problem with the Virtual Machine Management Agent in that when I access the site via https://localhost:50010 or https://computername:50010 it complains with the following error:-
Communication has been lost with the VMM service.
VMM console will become accessible once the communication with the CMS is re-established.

I have checked the error logs on the server side web service and no errors are being logged.
Restarting Agents/Box does not do anything.

Have you any ideas? Starting to pull my hair out..

Thanks
Simon
iThink

If I use that approach I get the same error.

Try going from HPSIM, go to Tools -> Intergrated Consoles -> Virtual Machine Management Pack. That works for me.

Not too sure why the other way doesn't work.

Rob,
Thanks yep - your right it works when initiated from SIM, bizarre. I still had problems getting into the webconsole, but once the proxy settings were sorted then the app loaded up!

Now to get the agents talking the CMS!

Thanks
Simon

If you're running VMware ESX 2.5, one of the =things I needed to do was to manually set the System Subtype for the Server Properties to Virtual Machine Host.

Without that I couldn't license the VM Server.

It is not possible to access the VMM console directly, you need to logon to https://localhost:50000 first and then invoke VMM console using Integrated Console -> Virtual Machine Management Pack from SIM or clicking on VM column if there is any status in the VM Column. The VMM webservice will do the authentication via HPSIM, hence we need to get through HP SIM first. Please let me know if you have any questions

Similar problem, I've got 3 ESX boxes licensed, and I've got a small green tick next to them under the VM box. If i click the tick it gives a blank screen momentarily. If I try going via the Integrated Console, VMM Pack, I get....

HTTP ERROR: 404 Not found
RequestURI=/Proxy/SSO
Powered by Jetty://

Any ideas ? The HP VMM Service and VMM Web Service are running, if that helps... beyond this, the manual suggest not much more.

Hi,

I noticed other postings with regards a web service running on 50010. I've browsed to it on the CMS server and I get the following :-

Communication has been lost with the VMM service.

VMM console will become accessible once the communication with the CMS is re-established.

For more information, refer to the troubleshooting guide.

Aye, very good. No info in troubleshooting has helped. I thought this was supposed to ease management, not create reams of another issues ! ;-)

Don't browse using the 50010 port, use the link from HPSIM.

The other issue almost sounds like your request is going via a proxy.
You may want to try and bypass that for these requests.

Yip, tried the Integrated Console, but thats when I get the 404 RequestURI=/Proxy/SSO error. I'm not going via a proxy, directly attached to the network, with no access to the internet, just for internal use... although it is Firefox i'm using. I just tried it again with IE, and it makes no difference.

I've tried reinstalling VMM, but its always the same thing. Does anyone know the process of what exactly happens (or at least should happen) when u click on the VMM Integrated Console.

when accessing from a remote machine, try giving the full name or IP address of the CMS machine.
For eg:https://computername.domain:500000....
Then it prompts for authentication, once you are logged in you can access the VMM Screen.

Thanks,
Ravi
