Rob.
Thanks for your reply.
I think I found a way to avoid the complaints by disable "authentication traps" in the section Trap receivers. Hope that helps, at least the tested one seems to be more quiet. But to be sure it needs some time.
Danny

Hi.

I am currently integrating our APC devices (mostly Symmetra) via their WebSNMP interfaces into the SIM.
Unfortunatley, the APC devices complain regularely about an "access violation" when checked by SIM.
Any idea how I can ensure that the integration works properly?
I tried the Powernet.mib and the standard mibs.
SNMP strings are all correct.
Many thanks for a hint.
Regards
Danny

I think it happens when the device identification task is run.
The APC interprets the identification interrogation as a logon attempt.

The MIBS are not involved in that process, they would be used when the APC sends an SNMP trap to HPSIM, at that point HPSIM uses the MIBs to decode the trap and generate an alert. You'd get detail of the event rather than a "generic unregistered trap" event.

So, as far as integration is concerned you should have done it. But I'm not sure how you can configure the APC to not think the identifcation process is a logon attempt.
