No, it's not. Settings are based on the specs of the internal components such as processors and the actual values are computed based on the location of the sensor. For example, the threshold may be set at 29C because that's the temp at the sensor's location when the processor is at 34C.

Why would you want to change it? If you're trying to infer environmental temperature, you're much better off with a device for that purpose, like the HP Console Management Controller and others.

Thanks for quick reply!

The reason why I want to change the warning, is due to problems with the aircondition. I want an earlier warning, so we have a chance to fix the aircondition before the server shutdown.
Anyway this is a kind of a workaround till the aircondition is fixed.

regards
Jens Morten

Steve, that would be Console *Management* Controller. It's a rack option designed for monitoring input voltage, temperature (up to two), humidity, smoke, mechanical shock/vibration or intrusion sensors. Probably overkill for every rack, but 1 per data center might be a good idea for remote monitoring of environmentals by the server admins (since sometimes building management systems aren't accessible to the server admins).

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/rack-options/cmc/index.html
