We use RFC 1918 net 10.0.0.0/8 and that network is added to the snmpd.conf as a read-only community. This worked with HP SIM 4.2.
I just installed 5.0 after having played around with 4.2 before. After entering a few machines via manual, all Windows servers get associated with their iLOs "ilo-xxx in server-xxx" but none of my Linux servers are. Anyone have an idea why that would be?
Looking more at this, I think the problem might be none of the Linux servers have been completely identified. All only list as "System Type" "Server", "Product Name" is on all "Linux Server" and on the RedHat AS2.1 machines "OS Name" is "LINUX", while on the rest it is empty. HP SIM 4.2 had no problems identifying the systems before.
If your HP SIM 5 installation is on a different host, the settings in each device's snmpd.conf might be wrong (since the default config is very restrictive).
