Insight Manager and RH Linux 7.3

Hi,

I need to find some basic information, step-by-step guides, how-to's, or some pointers in the direction of installing insight manager agent on a Proliant DL380 running red hat linux 7.3.

I am getting lost in the maze of the HP website! errrrmmm, any help will be mucho appreciated, with points awarded accordingly.

I've not done this so all the normal caveats and get out clauses apply.

But, in the MS world it is generally held that the entire softpaq be installed. This is because it's a bundled release and contains all the required updates. There is a similar mechanism for Redhat.

Looks like the supported OSs are:
RH AS & ES 2.1 and 3.0
SuSE ES 8.0
RH 8 and 7.3 are not listed as supported versions.
www.hp.com/servers/manage > then hit the HP SIM link. They have the Installation and User guide.pdf. It covers the steps on how to install HP SIM on Windows, Linux and HP-UX.

Do not confuse Insight server agents and the Systems Insight Manager application. They are two completely different things.

While the Systems Insight Manager application is supported for hosting on "enterprise" versions of Linux like RHEL and SLES, the ProLiant Support Pack for Linux is supported on a wide variety of versions. Please note, however, that future development for RedHat Professional is not being pursued since RedHat is discontinuing them.
