Hello!

I ran into a similar problem with my 2003 upgrade. Since I was administering other web based consoles, i had the wrong Java runtime installed. Took a long time to figure this out.

You have to be very careful with the local administration of the server via the web console since it relies on java versions that might differ from other installed if you also administer other web-based devices. Wich ssems to be your case here.
Personnally, I prefer to administer it from my workstation. Less stuff installed on the server equals less risks...

In the present situation, in your ADD/REMOVE folder, you should see
1. Java2 Runtime SE v1.4.1_04
AND
2. Java Web Start

Since this is the current config I have and it works A-1.

If it is not the case, I strongly recommand you uninstall other versions COMPLETELY and then try and connect through the web page. It'll prompt you to install again, and then everything will be back to normal.

I hope this works as well for you as it did for me.

By the way, you got an opinion about Top Tools? Cuz I'm looking at it right now and it seems to rock.

Best regards,

Simon-Emile Pelletier

WS03 ups the security when running IE that can interfere with the ability of hpSIM to send the applets down and execute the scripts that it needs. If you haven't done so and plan to keep using this as a workstation, check Settings --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Windows Components and uninstall the IE security beast. Check the MS docs at http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/all/deployguide/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/all/deployguide/en-us/pdpca_appa_iqpq.asp
