Insight Manager move

Hi, we are in the process of moving HPSIM 5.0 from one server to a virtual server. Can the server name be the same as the trap name? The IP address is staying the same, but the server now has a different name. I'm assuming, if it's okay to have the two names the same, I'm going to have to visit each server it monitors and change the VCR name????

YOu don't have to change the VCRM on each client, just make sure that there is a dns entry with the old server name.

and if you want to be organized and not create confusion, I would suggest that you create a task that changes the VCRM name on all clients from the SIM server. I would not want to keep old names around.

Next time you set the VC agents up - Don't use a hard coded IP address. Create a DNS alias of VCRM (or something) and then configure the agents to point to that. We maintain a redundant system architecture (including redundant VCRMs!) so moving the clients around is simple.
