Deploy current iLO firmware to all servers simultaneously

Experts,

How can I do this? I have over 100 servers and can not afford the time to do them individually. We run SIM 5.0.

Under Deploy - Deploy Drivers etc. - Install Software and Firmware.

You'll need to select the Servers to deploy to and the software you're deploying.

You'll need the VCA / VCRM relationship working correctly, but I've used this to deploy to multiple Servers.

You can update iLO firmware over the network using RIBCL XML scripting with the HP Lights-Out Scripting utility, CPQPLOCFG. You can download the utilities, images and examples at no charge from the HP Support and Drivers site for Lights-Out Products.

Caine,

Ensure you upload the firmware into your Version control repository.

Once you have done this you can deploy it to any or all of your servers using the standard deployment methods.

Thanks all for the response. Does SIM 5.0 have the intelligence to only deploy firmware to machines that require it or will I have to select the machines manually? I am hoping to just deploy to all and have the software work it out.

Kind of.
It will attempt to deploy but will determine the Firmware is not required if there is no ILO present, so you'll get a status 3.
Well I think that's how it should work! You may wish to do a couple of tests first.
