Hello,

I have searched through the forum but was not able to find the correct answer to my issue and I do hope you guys (and girls) can help me out.

I have a set over servers, in a collection called PARK_1. On these servers I scheduled a Disk Threshold to be critical at 85%, Warning at 80% and reset in both cases at 75%. It seems that this has been rolled out.

Now I want to make a task to report the warning and critical issues to me by e-mail, however how and where do I set this up? If I check under Options -> Events -> Automatic Events Handling -> New Task I cannot find the correct items. I tried Proliant Storage Events -> Physical Disk Threshold Passed and selected all of them. Is that correct?

What I am trying bottomline is:
- PARK_1 should be scanned every 4 hours during office hours
- PARK_1 should be scanned every 12 hours out of office hours
- Once a server in the PARK_1 collection is exceeding a warning or critical threshold an e-mail should be send to our server-helpdesk.

Who can help?

Cheers

Your drive thresholds are set in the agent and will report via SNMP. So whenever that threshold is crossed one way or the other an SNMP event will trigger in a Critical, Major or Normal. Having said that if you are getting pages or e-mail for critical and major events then you will get the notification.

If you want a specific task then the items under Proliant Storage Events as you described above will get you there.

I am not in front of my console, but off the top of my head this should be right. I am sure if it is not someone else will pipe in.

- Jim

- Jim

Thanks Jim,

Do you know the differences between all the numbers behind the thresholds? I was not able to find these details in the sim_hlp.pdf.

Cheers

Sorry to be not have responded sooner I am traveling. I believe it is simply a catagory and an id number for a given message.

If you are getting event notifications and a particular one you want to handle differently if you look at the event message and corresponding number and then set up your task handler for that particualar event and then message id. Like one I recieved last week was a Critical Rising Threshold of 10005 which 10 is the Critical Threshold catagory and message id 5.

I hope that explains it simple enough. If I remember right I have only noticed that number showing on my e-mail notifications and not in the HpSIM event description I could be wrong about that, but it seems to me I looked at that once.

- Jim

- Jim

ok, I think I understand what you are trying to do.

Bottom line, you want to receive an email aler when the threshold point is crossed. you are on the right track with setting up a notification task.

I need to switch to a new PC. I'll be right back :)

Thanks once more...

Sounds like a horrible new PC ;)

I believe I did set everything up the right way but is there a way to double check?

With Park_1 I figured out that this is most likely a SNMP issue and 56 servers are running and only 5 complete. In Park_2, I got 100% complete of the 76 servers.

Is there a way I can get a better error log for Park_1 and I can validate
1) The threshold has been set
2) There is an SNMP issue
3) The e-mail will be send (e.g. Test)

Sorry I do sound like a newbie huh...

Cheers
