You'll have to do in the client. As soon as you get into the VCA page, you get a link called "Configure agent settings". This will lead you to configure the VCA.

In the Proliant Support Pack for WIN 2003 there are 2 agents.
Version Control Agent for Windows 2.1.2.740 cp005396.exe and

HP Insight Management Agents for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003 7.40.0.0 cp005413.exe.

Could someone tell me which one do I need to install, is it both? and which sends information back to the SIM server about its software status?

You need to install both. Insight Management Agent is the one that informs SIM about the server hardware status. Version Control Agent is the one that reports the software status of the server. And remember, you'll have to configure your VCA to point it to a valid Version Control Repository Manager(VCRM) for it to report the correct software status.

Thanks, does this setting on the VCA need to be done on the client servers or the SIM server? And if on the client how do I access this setting?

Hi,
If u remember my case from a few days ago, I dont have VCA installed on my SIM server. As HP does not have any agents for the workstation I have installed it on.
Do I access VCA of the client server via the SIM GUI through the SIM server?

You can go to the Tools->System Page->Links->Version control agent or you can directly access through https://<IP address="" of="" client="">:2381/vcagent</IP>
