Check your DNS entries and watchout if the same name (that of the RIB) is given out when you do a ping -a <IP>.</IP>

SIM 5.0 recently installed. Originally both the SIM server and it's management processor were showing up correctly in SIM.

Yesterday I noticed that the SIM server was no longer showing up correctly. It now shows up as the management processor name (SimServer-rib) with both the SIM server IP and the management processor IP listed on it's system page (these are in different subnets). Clicking any of the links on the system page doesn't work because they try to use the management processors name for the link.

http:\\SIMServer-rib:2381
instead of
http:\\SIMserver:2381

I can't delete the device and rediscover it because its the CMS. I am logged on with SIM admin account.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Scott

I did check DNS, it was correct for the servers.

Strangely enough I kept running Manual Discoverys by name and it finally cleared up. Now the both the rib and the server show up properly.

Thanks,
Scott

Got a similar issue, had problems with our SIM server, and had to set up a parallell installation, due to excessive firewalling it needed to have the original name so I renamed the server and changed IP.

SIM still works, but the CMS entry in SIM comes up as Orphan, and cannot be deleted it is the CMS... :-)
