I have a Windows 2000 server that (Proliant DL380 G3) I need to set disk thresholds on. When I open the System Management Homepage for the server and select "Logical disks" it tells me that I need to enable logical disk performance by running the Diskperf -Y command and rebooting the server. I have done this and I still get the message.

I am running HP SIM 4.1 SP1.

What do I need to do to be able to view logical disks on this server so I can set thresholds?

Thanks for any help.

Nancy

To set disks thresholds do not click on "Logical Disks" in the perfromance category. You need to click on "File System Space Used" in the storage category.

Let's troubleshoot something here. In order to change the thresholds you need to log in as an Administrator or a Operator. Basically anything but a User or Anonymous. Any time I log in with User access I get that exact same error. Set up a Operator account and try logging in with that.

What version of SMH are you using?
It should say something like
HTTP Server v5.7.0
or
HP System Management Homepage v2.0.2.106
in the bottom left

Do you get the same error when trying to adjust the CPU thresholds or the page file settings?

I guess its possible that the password and accounts file is corrupted. You could uninstall SMH and the IM agents and then reinstall or just swap out the password file.

Here's how:
On the problem server rename this file
C:\Compaq\wbem\CPQHMMD.ACL to CPQHMD.xxx
Now copy that file from a server that's working normal and paste it onto the problem server.

You need an SNMP Community name that allows Read/Write to be set up.
The same name needs to be configured in HPSIM and on the Server.

I've got a Read community string and a Read/Create community string. One thing that I noticed though is that on my Windows 2003 Server servers I can set the thresholds but on my Windows 2000 Servers I can not. I noticed that the versions of the HTTP server are as follows:

Windows 2003 Server: 5.91
Windows 2000 Server: 5.94

Looks like there could be something in the newer version of the HTTP server software?

I've not seen a difference there, we still run NT4 on a couple of servers and you can set the thresholds on those. So the Web Version shouldn't be an issue.

Are the Trusts set up and working okay?

What is the version of the Agents that you're having problems with?

Hey Nancy,
You may have already checked this - sorry if it is redundant information - but do you have "SNMP Sets" set to ENABLE? You can check in the System Management Homepage through these tabs/links:

settings -> snmp webagent ->snmp & agent settings

-Rich
