topic David Claypool: Physical Drive Issue in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Configuration: SIM 5.0 / 7.40 Agents / Windows 2003 Server STD

Automatic Event Handling set up for all Major and Critical Events

Issue: I am not getting and pages for hard drive failures. I called HP support and the rep said to configure a separate Event Handler for Physical & Logical Drive Status Changes (specifically 3036 and 3034, respectively).
When I did that, I yanked a HD from a test box (not recommended by HP, I know), I only received and informational alert from the newly created Event Handler for 3034 - Logical Drive Status Change.

Will hard drive status changes not show up in a Major or Critical Event Handler?????

Thanks!!!

==============================================
The Insight agents (System Management Homepage) are able to do predictive alerting for processors, ECC memory and SCSI hard drives. If an alert is generated for a device under warranty, HP will replace the device under the terms of our Pre-Failure Warranty.
Go to http://www.hp.com/servers/swdrivers and select your OS to get the 'Insight Management MIB update kit for HP Systems Insight Manager for Windows' and you'll see the following in the release notes:

NOTE: For the HP Systems Insight Manager 5.0 release in August 2005, the 7.40 MIBs were NOT included; therefore, you MUST install this MIB update kit into HP SIM 5.0 to be able to interpret the changed storage traps in this MIB/Agent release.
