Seperate server.

Our approach was to get VMWARE GSX Server and build SIM in one VM and PCM in the other. This works well, since our SIM SQL Backend is on our dedicated SQL Box and takes almost no resources to run, the machine is nearly wholly dedicated to PCM

Since ProCurve Manager and Systems Insight Manager both attempt to act as trap recievers, is it possible to run both on the same server, or will I have to have a separate server for each application?

TIA,

--Greg
I was unable to get both SIM and DELL OpenManage to run on the same server. I was also unale to get SIM and TrapReceiver working on the same box at the same time.

The answer seems to be that only one trap receiver can be active at any time.

Richard

at the same time i dont think hp supports running sim on vmware, so you may be out of luck if you ever have to call support, so be careful

you could run both things on the same server you'd just need to setup two different traps and such in the snmp settings...that should work

Excuse the way I worded that

SIM runs on the VMWARE host, and PCM runs *IN* A VM.
