topic Second SIM in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

I've been trialling SIM v 5 on an old workstation, works OK, so I'm trying to move it onto a DL360. The install worked fine, but but there seems to me some permissioning issues. VCRM on the new server doesn't accept requests from discovered systems, even with the old VCRM powered down. I've added the new server into each system as a trusted management server... should this work? Am I missing something really obvious?

I think you need to change the VCRM on each Version Control Agent - as well as the trusted server.

We have implement a DNS alias (vcrm.ourplace.local) for the working VCRM and used that for configuring the VCA on each server. Makes switching the active VCRM almost trivial.

Ahh. That makes sense. Didn't think of using a dns alias for the vcrm... Thanks.
