I have the same problem with LTO drivers on Novell servers
And the error number changes from time to time (5007, 5018 and more).

I have PSP 7.30 and 7.40 agents installed.

How can I fix this problem without canceling the SCSI information completely?

I get hundreds of emails a day from 1 server with the message :

Event Name: Tape Drive Status Change (5019) Event originator: Server1 Event Severity: Critical Event received: 11-Nov-2005, 04:32:29

Event description: Tape Drive Status Change.
I think two options exists:
1) Use Options->Events->Automatic Event Handling and clear unwanted events
Create an automatic event handling task
"with event and system attributes that I will specify" and in select events window choose "where event type is Proliant storage events" and choose unwanted Proliant storage events.
In select actions window choose "Clear event".

2)Edit traps in SNMP trap settings
Go to Options -> Events -> SNMP Trap Settings , select cpqscsi.mib in MIB Name, and disable evnt trap handling for unwanted traps (trap name enough informative to understand what you need).
You can change severity of the trap as well.
