Problem with Version Conrol Agent

I´m having problems with the Version Control Agent in a server. After i install Proliant Support Pack, i get the following error messange when accesing https://servername:2381/vcagent

"The Version Control Agent encountered an error while obtaining the software and firmware inventory."

If i un-install the PSP, it starts working again. Tried using different versions of PSP. Any thoughts?

Looks like SNMP community string is missing. Try providing the same through SNMP properties dialog box.

Hi,

You should check if the vca agent is confugured correctly. Try to check this!
Go to System Management Homepage of the server, then click on left pane "Version Control Agent", then Configure agent". At that point yuou should see a field for VCRM(version Control Repositry Manager) and username/password

If all this is configured correctly...still check if connexion with your vcrm is good..

I've also seen something similar. When I restarted VCA agent and then SMH it worked correctly for a few time...maybe a bug

One more thing, maybe the installation (upgrade) with a new PSP reset certain configs

Anantha: SNMP is configured correctly. IÂ´ve already checked that before.

Pagnotta: When i click on the "version control" link in HP System Management Homepage (locally on the server), i still get the same error: "The Version Control Agent encountered an error while obtaining the software and firmware inventory.".

any other ideas??

Is the foundation agent service running? The VCA requires that agent as it is the one that populates the version information in SNMP. Usually, the inability for the VCA to get inventory information is related to some issue with SNMP.

Yes, the Foundation Agents service is up and running. Everything seems to be ok on the SNMP side...
