    <description>Mike you need to make sure your SNMP settings on the SIM Server match that of the devices you are detecting.  Also, what type of systems are they.  If you are using Automatic Discovery it should find anything on the local subnet without any configuration changes.</description>

      <description>I have searching the whole forum but couldn't get any answers. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have HPSIM 4.2 with SP2 on Win2k SP4. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The first time I setup SIM, I have abt 300 managed servers with abt 20 each of Unknown and Unmanaged.  The SNMP is setup correctly.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have tried "Configure and Repair Agent". 2 managed servers are able to communicate and the rest making no progress.  Pls help. &lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Unknown and Unmanaged have different meanings.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Unknown means it has detected some kind of Management protocol, but not been able to identify the device.&lt;BR /&gt;Unmanaged means it has found no Management protocols.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For the Unknown Servers click on the Server name, you should be able to find listed the Management protocols it has found.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What type of Servers are they? Not all Servers can be recognised, if they're Proliants then at the least it woulkd indicate SNMP is not set up correctly.</description>

      <description>Same thing happened to me.  I reconfigured the WMI timeout values and that seemed to resolve it for some of them, granted I still have a few left in the unmanaged/unknown state as well.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Here is what I did.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I opened globalsettings.tpl and set these variables to these values and it cleared up quite a few servers.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IdentificationTaskThreadCount=4&lt;BR /&gt;IdentificationDiscoveryThreadCount=4&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>oh sorry wrong file&lt;BR /&gt;they are in the globalsettings.props file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;edit that file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;should change how many wmi connections go out from the CMS at a time</description>

      <description>Best way to do this is this way.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Shutdown SIM Service&lt;BR /&gt;Edit Variables&lt;BR /&gt;Restart SIM Service&lt;BR /&gt;Identify systems in question&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Number should go down.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also schedule your daily identifies at times of the day where the network is not too busy.  Not good to schedule it inside backup windows or high processing times.</description>
